Disney scanning fingers

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The addition of finger scanning technology at the entrances of Walt Disney World theme parks for all visitors has caused concern among privacy advocates, according to a Local 6 News report.

Tourists visiting Disney theme parks in Central Florida must now provide their index and middle fingers to be scanned before entering the front gates.

Interestingly the poll is about even on that page.

I thought it would be heavily skewed to the "I hate it!".

They say its because they are looking for people that have legit tickets and such.

When I was at Disneyland last March I didn't have to give them my finger so I don't know what the process is.

I assume when you purchase a ticket you get scanned, then again at the gate? So if I take my wife and two kids do they scan all of us at time of purchase?

Also, can't get you get discounted tickets online/by phone and have them sent to your home before your trip? What do they do there?

How does this deter people who have fake tickets?

Are they scanning at the point of sale and at the point of admission?

Then they wouldn't have had to change the original policy of scanning just season ticket holders.

Joe: Buys season ticket
Joe: scans his fingers
Joe: uses ticket, everything is fine
Joe: Lets Mary borrow his season ticket
Mary: Tries to use it and gets nailed for fraud.

Its called fairness

It sounds as if, in order to not make season ticket holders feel singled out, they are scanning everyone. Or maybe a dna test for the perfect donor body for Walt.
He is frozen isn't he?
Bomb residue check maybe!
Could be trying for a world record longest wait in line.
Someone tapped into the FBI database and is going after all those rewards for the criminals.
Gets you to hold still for the face recognition software to get a good picture.
My first impression is that the check may not be that accurate in that they are using 2 fingers rather than just 1. This would indicate that they are using finger length differences rather than fingerprint scanning software. Or it could be totally nonfunctional and just be flashing lights and shiny stuff. But as long as the general public thinks it is being checked it will eliminate some of the season ticket borrowing!

I wouldn't give Disney my finger, but I'll be happy to give them THE finger.
