Thumbs down This is BS.

How can we expect N Korea and Iran to announce their nuclear intentions if WE don't?

Incredibly hypocritical of us...

There was discussion by the white house last week, that a new energy bill include building new oil refineries and new nuclear power plants. This article I think reads that way, Plutonium 238 is not specifically used for weapons, but more for producing power, and with China moving into the world oil market, nuclear power might be necessary.

Also, Iran sponsors terrorism, N. Korea uses their weapons to threaten. The United States does neither. Either way, if the U.N. felt that the United States was stock piling nuclear weapons, it would be brought to their attention and investigated, and reported by Peter Jennings and Katie Courik. Even if we were building weapons, they would be strictly for national defense.

In my opinion........

Plutonium 238 isn't used for powering nucklar bombs used mainly now for space probes that venture too far to use the sun for solar energy.

Now if they are talking Plutonium 239...

But, then again, they could be saying 238 and really making 239...

True dat. Like I said, fuck it, let them make all they want. No one seems to have too much of a problem with the North Koreans and Iranians making anything they want so why can't we?

They did announce their intentions, it is going to be used to make nuclear batteries. Do you think that making 330 pound of nuclear material is really going to matter to the USA? Oh boy! We will be able to make 11 more nuclear weapons to stack next to the 5,000 we already have.

The stockpile includes 5,886 strategic warheads and 1,120 non-strategic weapons. The strategic weapons include 1,490 ICBM warheads, 2,736 submarine launched ballistic missile warheads, 1,660 bomber weapons (strategic B61 and B83 gravity bombs, ALCM, and AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missiles), and several hundred spare warheads. The tactical weapons consist of 800 tactical B61 gravity bombs and 320 nuclear warheads for Tomahawk missiles.

Looks like we already have enough to blow the Earth to dust...the numbers don't matter as much as who is willing to pull the trigger...

I think the next nuke explosion we're going to see is going to be linked to terrorism, and will be smuggled/driven into an area prior to detonation.

I can't imagine that any nation is going to be rash enough to start pushing red buttons in this day and age, and I hope that i'm right about that

I get what you are saying but WE are not as stupid and f'ed up like those other countries and are not willing to use nukes right off. They don't see it that way though.
