Cool Pics from base...

The Iraqi air force was so devistated from the first Gulf War, that it never bothered to rebuild itself, or even clean itself to this day. This is what remains of one of the many Mig 25's that went "BOOM" more than a decade ago:

If I remember correctly that bird is nicknamed the Foxhound. I saw one at an air show in Germany back in late 1991. It seemed extremely large at the time. Cool picture by the way.

There are two versions of the Mig 25. The biggest difference is in the cab. The earlier version was a two seater with seperate "pods". (like this one) And a later version with one seat because later technology did most of the radar and navagating for the pilot.

It's nickname is the Foxbat.

Here's a link, the Russians use their two seater for training.

How often do you feel your life is in actual danger while working in Iraq? Don't you work for Haliburton?

I know it's off subject, but my father is in the interviewing process for a truck driving job on the Turkey-Iraq border. I am trying to decide whether or not I encourage this. Thanks.

I feel secure with it, however, I would NEVER drive a truck! They get paid OK, but it's just way too dangerous for me. I like the fact that I'm confined to base and only flown from site to site. One good thing is that the truck routes up north are really calm. If I had to, I'd do it up there. Pleasant weather too. Wish him luck for me.

You don't understand how pumped I get when a convoy pulls into base. To see that firepower among those 18 wheelers. Just to know what they went through to get the stuff here...

Badass group of guys, if you ask me.

For some reason I got that mixed up with the MIG-31 which is the Foxhound, that picture is still great . I am using it as my wall paper for my desk top here in my classroom.

Thank you for taking time to answer my questions. Sounds like pretty chancy work to me. His viewpoint is, "if I live I'll have a bit of cash." He's also sick of driving in the US and Canada.

Cool picture, and to think that is one of the Russian's finest warbird's and our fighter technology makes them look like ancient technology.

I know this is a stupid question, but is there sand everywhere and how do you cope with that. I mean does it get in the weapons, your food, drink, ect.

Environmental, Safety and Health work for the KBR and Marine jobsites. And debt free plus a liitle pocket change is the plan.

Hell, I would have come out here for the same pay if that was my only option.

Hey Denny....hope you're doing well! Be careful over there man! I had a question for you.... who did you initially talk to about going over there? Did you start w/ the KBR guys in the Dallas office? I've got 7 years w/ Brown and Root and might would consider the idea of going over if the right opportunity existed.....gimme the details....
