Question Bluetooth 56K Modem

Quote:
The Bluetooth BT56R wireless modem is a 56 K modem equipped with Bluetooth function. It provides a standard V.90 Modem for WAN communication and access to Internet. With a Bluetooth adapter, you can dial up to access the network via this device wirelessly. Bluetooth technology brings you more freedom and mobility; it allows you to mobilize your PC within the effective range of this Bluetooth modem. Unlike Sony's PCGA-BM1 which only has a 10 meter (32 foot) range, the BT56R has a range of 100 meters (328 foot). This translates into you being able to have 10 times the freedom of movement range and wont have to worry about staying near the modem. Why be limited on your wireless movement? That is one reason in itself to get this modem.
Anybody ever hear or see of one of these before?

I saw some bluetooth USB adapters on clearance at Target. I have heard of Bluetooth but havent ever seen it in person, dont know much about it. I didnt get them because they are only 1mb and only upto 100 ft.

If I am reading that right, its a wireless access point thats a modem?

No shit? Which Target Chris? Let me know!!!!!

Bluetooth is a pretty good wireless standard and I've gotten interested in it since getting a Bluetooth enabled cell phone. With a Bluetooth adapter on my PC I can synch up the address book, calendar, and "to do" list on my cell phone simply by walking into the room and synching them up. Same goes for my PDA.

There are some new products coming out that I'm interested in. HP has one model of printer that has Bluetooth built in. Would be nice to be able to bring my laptop/PDA near by and print up documents. Sony is also (or will be) making a camera or camcorder that has built in Bluetooth to transfer images and stuff to the PC.

As far as the modem, that's the way I understand it to be to; a wireless access point for a dial up connection.
