Finally broke down and bought some upgrade components for my Home Entertainment Computer. And I can't get XP installed.
I've isolated the problem as being the motherboard, which subsequently does not appear on the HCL. However, all of the documentation for the board indicates it will work with XP. Of course, it's talking about the drivers/software on the CD, and not whether or not XP will even install on this mobo.
It's a Shuttle AK32A. Via KT266A chipset.
During setup, as it's loading the Kernel Debugger DLL, it crashes, and the error displayed is:
"Setupdd.sys could not be loaded. Error code 4
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit setup."
I've updated the bios to AK32S308 which appears to be the latest on Shuttle's website.
Anyboy have any ideas? I bought everything at Micro Center, so if I need to, I'll be trucking this board back up and getting another ... but as this board supports my PC100 memory, that was the reason I got it. (Using my PC100 temporarily, will be updating to PC2100 soon)
