Any SQL 2K/Veritas Netbackup users

Is anypne here using SQL 2K and Veritas Netbackup? I have a server that just does not want to truncate the stupid log file after it backs up. I fI manually go in and back it up, it will truncate, but thru Veritas it does not? It is also running on NT 4.0, the other SQL servers are running Win 2K. Is this a Veritas client bug or an NT 4.0 bug???

Hell if I know, that's another department, you know, those guys across the street, the place I'm trying to get you in too... Well, it'll be a new dept. (if you get hired), backups/tools/monitoring.

Just read your second post. We have Netbackup, newest version on the server JT and I run, but the other servers that are backed up are with a different version, different dept. We have 2 large tape libraires and 2 backup servers.
The limits with Netbackup listed there suck, like no vaulting! We had to script it to get that done, among other things.

Thumbs up

Description:
SQL Server differential backups are inhibited in:
SQL Server 2000, if recovery mode is set to simple
SQL Server 7, if trunc-log-on-chkpt is checked
These backups should not be inhibited.

Found it.

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/249995.htm

Workaround:
Prior to backup,
For SQL Server 2000, set recovery mode to full or bulk-logged
For SQL Server 7, unset trunc-log-on-chkpt option.
Reset to the desired option after the backup completes.
