I downloaded the newest full version nero about a week ago, and I must say, i've been pretty impressed with it! It recognized everydrive I had without a problem..

Sounds like a driver issue..

I've been running Nero for a 2 or 3 years now and have not had that problem. Running a DVD Creative Labs DVD Player and I've had a Creative Labs CD CD-RW and now a Sony CD CD-RW with no problems.

Have you tried swapping the Drives and see if that detects it? Or removing the drivers and reinstalling?
