On a work terminal they can pretty much see whatever you do, if they have the right tools.

If it shows up on your screen, it can be tracked.

The short answer is yes. However, if you are using a Yahoo/Gmail/hotmail etc account it is more difficult. If you are using you work email address to send then I would guarantee that they have a record of the email

if its on the wire or on the pc it can be tracked its just a matter of how much effort they put into.

this is coming from someone who reviews that kind of stuff and has seen people fired for doing personal stuff and violating company policies on work computers.

With all the smart phones, etc now there is no reason to do anything personal on your work computer.

They will know you are using a personal email site just from the site hits. There are out of the can translators out there that can be installed on the network to track usage based on your network credentials. Like Stang2be said...use a smartphone and nobody will ever know.
