XBOX 360 RROD returns

and it's out of warranty.

Who can I trust to fix it right and in a timely manner without getting raped?

TIA

It's the old white system. It's about 3 years old.

I doubt it is, but if it's a modded box it could be from the latest OS update....we've been hearing that modded boxes are dropping like flies from the newest update.

So far the new 360 consoles are coming back with WAY fewer failures than the old ones. Biggest reason I'm sure is b/c they run so much cooler. Preliminary numbers on failure rate actually came back at just over 2%...which is a huge improvement from where it peaked a couple years ago at over 16%. By comparison the PS3 has hovered in the 3-5% range for the last couple years (respectable results).

I don't know what a "modded" box is, so I doubt if mine is. It's had nothing done to it since the last warranty fix.

I may just get a new one and ditch this old POS. Can I use the HDD off the old one on a new style console???

If it's a full red ring they will fix it for free, so just tell them it's a full red ring. I have had to send mine in 3 times and never paid a dime, all were after warranty was expired.

If you're being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They're trained for that!

The new slim consoles have no place to snap in the old style drives, but they come with internal memory, and you can get a transfer kit to move all of the data off of your exsisting drive.

I just checked with the Microsoft XBOX 360 support site and it tells me (after putting in the 4 ring option) that my warranty is expired and will cost $99 + taxes for repair.
