Fallout: New Vegas

Just got an email from Gamefly saying it's on it's way. Should be here wednesday, but maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be tomorrow. I think the shipping center is in Austin. I'm hoping the controls are about the same as Fallout 3 so I don't have to spend 2 hours just getting used to basic actions and menu navigation. Looking forward to it though. Fallout 3 was badass. I wish I was posting about a new Elder Scrolls game but this will have to work for now.

Anybody else picking this up?

Id like to get it tuesday night at 12am launch but in my old age im still working on beating red dead and gta liberty stories from months ago. Im def getting it though when i beat these two. I probabally put 1000 hours in fallout 3, it was awesome. I beat it the first time in like 6 hours as a level 3 and was like gay.....but then I took the time to fkn play the game and it's one of the best ive ever seen..Hopefully this one will be at least on PAR but im doubtful because OBSIDIAN has taken over the project instead of BETH.

I remember watching an interview with some of the guys from obsidian and they said the basic gameplay hasn't changed much. There is the iron sights view which I can't remember, but I don't think it was in the original Fallout 3. I kinda hope it plays a little more like Borderlands as far as fighting goes. Borderlands style fighting + VATS would kick ass.

Awesome. I'll probably get it in a few months.

I remember reading about it and like Poopnut said, basic gameplay isn't much different but you can modify the weapons now by adding parts or something like that.

Post up when yall get it and how it is...I loved fallout 3, but deleted all my old saves. Is it an expansion or a new game altogether?

Force Unleashed 2? Something else I gotta look at.

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we're only dreaming

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way up here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world

Who wants to play with my deck? It's never seen another person's hands before, and i'll keep it wrapped for protection.

Edit: Not letting me redeem my codes on ps3. not happy about that.

So far, so good.
If you liked 3, you'll love this one.
And the beginning isn't an hour of fucking bb shooting, cake eating, test taking, bully beating bullshit.
A good 10-15 minutes of character creation and you're good to go.

Iron sights REALLY helps sneaking and critting manually.
Weapon mods are nice.
Different ammo types for different enemy types per weapon.

It's literally everything that made 3 good, plus some.. . . . so far.

This is more of a sequel to 2 than really having anything to do with 3.

You're good to go.

I fucking hated rolling a new character on fallout 3, for that reason alone. I hated the test, the baby part, the bb/roach kill, the fight with that greaser dude. Just let me kill the overseer and let me gtfo.

I made a regular good guy adventurer with regular guns, lockpick, and science as main focus.

By the time i was ready to make a second character, i forgot the horrible beginning. I made a sneaky brawler, but by the time i was out of the vault, i didn't care to continue playing that one.

Opening on this one is soooo much fucking better.

Haha Fallout 3 with all the DLC is more then amazing! You should try the GotY version. Playing vegas now Dying like a bitch on Very Hard with hardcore mode on is kinda pissin me off.

EDIT: just checked and xbox does get all the DLC a year before PS3..

Fallout is one of those rare games where you don't really play multiplayer... At least I didn't.

You could "beat" fallout 3 in 6 or so hours, but if you really played the game, it would take a long, long, long, long time.

eh im about 8 hours in level 10 about to glitch to 30 lol...This game is sick..now that I've played it all night..It is just like Boarderlands and Fallout3 combined my 2 favorite games..

Only thing: On PS3 if you make a male character he has a bitch voice so when you are getting raped by bandits it sounds like a porno.

There wasn't ever a multiplayer available.

Been playing it for a couple of hours now, working my way through the bigass hotel in Primm. I love waiting for bandits to walk around the corner to a shotgun blast in the vace courtesy of the VATS system.

Fuck. Iron Sights is nice, but when the target doesn't just stand there like a fucktard like in most FPS games it makes it a little harder. Gotta use VATS to the max. Plus, the enemy uses explosives (dynamite) a LOT more than in Fallout 3. I have to admit, this game has fucked me up a few times.

Magnus, you're playing on PS3 right? I have had absolutely no problems on my 360. Then again, for games I can't beat within 8 hours or so, I download the game to my system before playing it. I don't think the PS3 gives you that option.

ps3 doesn't allow you to put the whole game on, but it does install portions of the game.
I have fallout 3 for my xbox, but i've been trying to do more with my ps3, really justify having it and all that shit.
So far, i'm regretting it.

It's still the best blu-ray player on the market. That's all I use it for. That and old PS1 games.

Been playing all night and only locked up on me acouple of times. Just save often. Really, Fallout 3 had the exact same lockups and glitches and I learned to live through it through about 20 playthroughs so it doesn't even really phase me haha on vegas.

Great game so far. I'm stuck at Hidden Valley bunker right now. There is a glitch when Scribe Ibsen is isolating the virus...making it impossible to complete the task. There is also a glitch at Helio-One that always you to get infinite XP, Stimpacks, and Doctor bags. You have to select emergency power level to overload the power plant..then go talk to Ignacio in the research lab. The dialogue for quest completion will stay there so you can select it repeatedly for XP.

What would be the point of multiplayer? Half of the drama is the fact that you have limited resources.

"I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

"There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. Please use in that order." - Ed Howdershelt

Plan on getting this today or this weekend. Hope they have updates to fix these glitches. I remember those on Fallout 3.

I played most of the way through 3 on my roommate's xbox. Never been a huge fan of the RPG/shooter games, but I may have to pick this one up. I'll wait to see if the glitches get patched up though, that sounds frustrating.

Well, it froze up once on me and there have been a couple small glitches with the enemy that actually worked to my advantage. Fun ass game.
