Laptop question to the computer guys.

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop that was donated to me from a family member that is not turning on. I have just replaced the RC jack and was cleaned completely inside out. When it is connected the outlet icon blinks but again nothing. would a bad battery cause this? the battery icon blinks every 5 seconds
any info with more trouble shooting will help.
thanks

Since you've already had it apart once, see if you're getting any voltage @ the on/off button.

I've seen this on a few laptops before. Sometimes its a bad motherboard....but a flashing light is normally a trouble indicator of some kind. I suggest you pull the power cord off and then remove and reinstall ALL devices that are replaceable making sure they are FIRMLY seated in their slots. I would START with the memory modules as that is a fairly common trouble area.

Did you use anything other than canned air to clean it out when you had it apart. When you were working on or near the board were you wearing a anti-static strap?

Sorry to hear that man. I worked as a tech on hitachi laptops and would see that problem on a weekly basis.
