Slow Computer, or Slow connection?

Just got TimeWarner. I got the "standard Cable internet".
The pages are taking super super long to load, and its slower than I remember.

Here are some speed test results.
The test looks like everything is pretty decent.

My computer is this.
Windows Vista with 64-bit Operating System.
2.30 GHz, Quad-Core Processor (AMD Phenom 9650)
and 8 GB Ram.

I dont have much running in the background/the trey where the clock is.
Steam, some ATI thing, Windows Sidebar, Ad-aware, Symantec Endpoint Protection (virus protection), and some thing called "Sync Center"

I run Ad-aware daily, and never get anything cleaned, and Symantec blocks stuff occasionally.

Am I just spoiled by a faster connection, or is there possibly another problem?

Right now, I just timed the how long it took to load Ebaymotors.com 83 seconds. Way too long.

Go here and run this test. Make sure you're running IE As Admin by right clicking on the icon and selecting "As Admin".

Register an acct then run the test and copy/paste the URL in your reply.

There are many many tests. Which one do I run? Internet connection?

FireFox is working fine, IE says "IE cannot detect a webpage" and is giving me the BS "Diagnose the connection problem"

Longshot here but maybe the weather might have something to do with it? There is a LOT of flooding going on and I'm sure there are a lot of cable and phone lines drowning right now.

Looking through your test results, nothing shows why a page would be loading slow. In fact, you system looks good with the exception of HDD speed.

Does this issue occur at all times of the day or just certain times and is it on any site ot just specific ones?

Could have some tracking cookies (malicious) slowing you down.

I have a top end pc, with 8gb and quad core processor and so forth.
What kills me everytime with speed are those damn cookies and the wifi modem freezing up.

Don made me remove my sig

I really hate SEP. They've installed it on our work laptops and it really has bogged everyones systems down.

It seems obvious to me that it's your connection. With an upload like that, it's gonna slow you down. Your machine might need some cleaning, but you have the hardware for speed.

Time Warner upload speeds suck. Download is ok though. Here is the speed I get and I also have the RR standard package. Maybe they gave you the basic package which is 3.0 Mb/s

Testmy.net gives me consistent DL speed results of 10.8 mb/s which I believe are more accurate.

Computer is outdated but runs ok overall as long as I don't try to watch higher quality video. That's were old hardware shows its face.

KJ, on that test I had him run, it showed his DL to be consistent w/ what E2S posted, that's why I asked about other pages.
