Getting a new laptop....need some help techies :)

Currently I have a desktop POS (dell 8500...ew yes I know lol) Pentium 4 2.8 ghz w/3.5 gb ram and xp...I've been doing photo editing and running cs4 and it's become an overly huge PITA bc it consumes nearly all my processing power. I've been looking to upgrade to a laptop (aka desktop replacement).

I can get a used Dell XPS 17" gaming laptop w/dual SLI 8700gt video cards and an intel dual core 2.4ghz processor (don't remember the ram amount) for $800 from a buddy of mine

or

I was looking to step up to a new Dell studio 17 w/the i7 and 4gb of ram and 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 video card. It runs $1100 from dell.com (but it can hold up to 8gb of ram)

I've recently started up a media business w/some partners, and I'd like to use this laptop to essentially run the adobe suite (not necessarily all at once lol). Graphic heavy video editing, illustrator, photoshop, indesign etc. I tend to multi-task since I have a.d.d. lol so I usually have alot of things going (photoshop, illustrator, 4-5 chrome tabs, media player). I'm thinking the i7 will fit my needs, but I'm wondering if the older dual core xps will work just as well and I can save me some $$$. Thoughts? TIA

If you go i7 the speed you'll get your media stuff done will be FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR quicker than that old C2D.

My vote goes to i7. :P

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.
