Why do PS3'2 download so slowly?

If I try to download anything it takes forever. Online gaming works great but If I try to use the browser to watch a tv show or download anything from the ps3 store it takes hours. I searched online and couldnt really find any good info. My ps3 is wired to my linksys wrt54g router(ddwrt) and I set the quality of service so the ps3 can get all of the bandwidth available.
Anyone else been able to get faster downloads?

Downloading the MLB 2010 demo took fucking forever, but it was about 3 gigs.

Got nobody to blame but yourself for that one. They clearly gave you the option to not install that update before you installed it.

I'm sure someone will break it (if they haven't already) so you can uninstall the update or get around it somehow.

There are 50 million plus users and it's a free service. They are bound to have some network congestion at times.

PS3's suck at downloading and installing anything as you have already figured out. Playing Metal Gear was frustrating as hell because it you would have to wait for the game to install after every "chapter". Xbox on the other hand still takes a bit to download but no time to install.
