html "circle-R" issues

Okay, here's the deal.

My company is working with a provider to redo our website. The nice thing about it is that we have pretty much full control over what content is included (instead of paying some hack to do it for us). The problem is that when I try to add the "circle-R" (registered symbol, ®) it ends up with an extra character (usually Â). I can use the html code for the symbol and it gives the same result.

To add to this, if I use the superscript code, it adds â after the symbol.

Can anyone help me out with this issue?

Well, okay. Either I'm withholding some info, or no one knows html.

Well, I hadn't tried that particular code. I have been using &"reg; without the quote.

I just tried the code in your screenshot and it does the same thing. It must be an issue with the editor.

Is ® showing up on this page correctly? If so: problem solved!

Well, yes, but that just means it's not an HTML issue, but an editor issue. The editor this company has is Sun Java based application called EditLive! 6.6.2.6.

Problem not really solved. I think we'll just push it back at the vendor and hope they will fix it.

The attachment is how it usually ends up. If I use the superscript code, it adds another character at the end.

It generates an HTML file, right? Open the HTML file with Notepad and insert it there. Problem solved!

I can't. We don't have a traditional FTP connection to the host server.

That's bullshit. And I think I actually remember reading somewhere that certain editors have this problem.

I got my point across with that ftp statement, right?

As for page character, I've tried % reg; (without the space), alt+0174, and & #174; (without the space). They ALL do the same thing.

Here's the code for the headline. If you need more, let me know.

HTML Code:
<h1><strong>About the "We Buy Ugly Houses®" People</strong></h1>
