Jailbreak Backup?

Since my last fiasco with my iPhone and being forcibly upgraded. I remember someone talking about an option in option in Cydia to do this but I can't find it now. Any ideas on this? I want to be able to create a backup in case something screws up again.

I don't know if they are still doing it but there used to be an option for 3gs' in Cydia called "make my life easier"

Clicking through would save a copy on Saurik's server, but I think they stopped doing that. You might check on modmyi.com

I've never done it,but once you clicked on "make life easier",it would back up your FW,but you would need to point Itunes to that guys server. Something like that.

Shouldn't be a problem right now, since the jailbreak that was posted the other day is working with 3.1.3 3gs with the new radio/rom.
When os 4 comes out, i'm sure we'll see the option pop back up in cydia and others of the like.
Break away!

"rock" has a really good back-up option and it's free. just sign in (create a log-in) and it will keep 5 total back-ups of everything. if you have to start over, just log in and restore from a back-up...it installs everything that you had all at one time. i've used it several times.

if you're talking about cydia keeping shsh files for your phone, then just tap "make my life easier" when you first install cydia. that will allow you to downgrade firmwares if you accidentally upgrade...

After that last time I'd rather be prepared

Wasn't giving the option to install Rock this time. And how does it work if you are forced to upgrade and can't access the Jailbreak?

the "rock" back-up doesn't help you jailbreak, it actually helps you put everything back on the phone after you jailbreak it. cydia does what i think you're looking for...just click "make my life easier" after you install it.

I think I jinxed myself! My 3g bricked about 2 hours ago(out of the blue) - now I'm doing a restore to 312. I'm going to get on rock and find a backup since I haven't done it before.

Search Cydia for "rockapp" and install it...as far as the last question, you would just hit "Shift Restore" in itunes and select the correct .ipsw firmware file.
