Networking With Windows 7

alright, i have windows 7 on all of my computers now, and i can't seem to get them to network properly. they all "see" eachother and i can access the "public" folders but nothing else. i would like to completely share the hard drives on all computers, but it won't let me. i set up a home network and put the code that it gave me in all of the computers, but it still doesn't work. also, i used to be able to access things from my ps3 when it was connecting via wireless but now that i have it wired into the router, it won't let me connect to the computers anymore...it "sees" the computers, but does the same thing; it only lets me access the public drives. wok the fok?

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

I would suggest keeping one of the computers, maybe a beefy one with disk space as your file server. Keep all your files there and share from that central location.

Make sure the user account you are logging into these computers with explicitly has permissions on the shares you are creating.

the problem is that i can't access the drives at all. they show up, but when i click on them, it says:

"windows cannot access \\laptop\c"
"you do not have permission to access \\laptop\c. contact your network administrator to request access"

it says the same thing from the laptop to the desktop...i can access "public" folders, but that's it.
