Im sure you could price it cheaper thru newegg. Those $1000 cpus are effing stupid, they arent that much faster. Certainly not worth that kinda cash, get a $500 cpu and OC the damn thing.

All that and only GTX275? Lame

There are 285 and 295s which are better cards. Not to mention the new ATI cards which are faster

The trouble with doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

Its not about speed, rather the 6 cores and 12 threads which makes this cpu so expensive. plus its 32nm

vast majority of people would see no difference between that and a high end i7 is all im saying.

Ive read about these 6 core cpus, honestly i havent seen many games use multi cores to much effect. Still comes down to good ole graphics card power for the most part.

Hand me a towel and a smoke....

...because I just came

Oh and on the graphics cards, it is x2 for that price...so that means SLi...

Right! I remember when the 486 Sx-25Mhz came out. I was in 6th grade. Shortly after that was the DX-33 w, a math coprocessor and it was the bomb. To think, that was 16-17 yrs ago. If tech continues to evolve at the same rate, I cannot imagine what we'll have in the next decade or so.

i'm happy with what i have for now...i'll wait until that processor is about 1/3 of the price and then go find a good deal on one.

i'd just like to find a very large external hard drive for a decent price. i'd like to put my movies on it and be able to access them without digging out the dvds/blurays...i'm spoiled to having my entire cd collection on my computer, and now i want my movie collection there too!

Ill wait until that comes down in price some.. Until then my I7 920 will do.

Right now I need to figure out what to do about my hard drive setup. I want to buy a good raid controller and hook at least 6 hard drives up(plus the other 4 in the computer) together for my Video/Picture editing.

As far as this computer for gaming, it's way over kill. Any decent quad core with the top of the line video cards would play any games on max settings just fine.

1Tb and larger drivers are CHEAP now. Get one and put it in your own enclosure.

I agree with you, but this isn't marketed to the mainstream or lowend market, its marketed to enthusiasts thats why we have i3 and i5 cpu's. Let AMD handle the mainstream "budget" 6 core procs and they are just around the corner.

WAT! Are you sure it wasn't a NAS box? I don't think the manufacturers have gotten the areal density of the platters to that level yet. I think 2Tb is the threshold ATM.

For the money, a 1Tb drive is the way to go. Just get a couple and swap them out when need. You could even label them by genre.

it wasn't a regular hdd, it was a unit with 4tb of storage space...i think that it was made by hitachi or maybe it was lg. i'll see if i can find a link for it.

My home nas system is 4 x 1.5 TB drives RAID 5, so got 4 TB usable space. Cost me 500$ total. It has an Atom with hdmi and I can watch 1080p videos fine.

RAID5 basically means if a drive fails, I can replace it and not lose any data.
