Let me know what you find. I myself don't have the time to look at all the apps they have to offer.

So far I have only added a few:

Task killer to close down unused running programs (saves battery time)
Google sky or something like that. You point your phone at the sky and it tells you about the stars and constellations in that area.
A movie app (trailers, showtimes, etc)
Something to find stuff close to you by catagory like bars and restaurants
A bar code device where you can scan in all your store club tags. Then instead of having them on your keychain they just scan your phone.

I will list the actual names but am posting from the phone right now.

Okay, so here are the actual app names:

Bubble - A level.
Google Sky map - As previously described
Key Ring - For the bar coded discount club things (like Kroger Plus Card, Etc.)
Mabilo Ringtones - Ringtones, duh.
Flixster Movies - Showtimes, theater locations, trailers and reviews.
Places Directory - Uses your gps location to find businesses close by (bars, restaurants, banks, gas stations , hotels, Hospitals, etc.) You click on the one you are interested in and then you can hit another button for the map or to call.
Shazam - The thing that gives you song info for whatever is playing.

That's all I have right now. I have been googling "top android apps" and such but looking for more that people here have used.

The only thing my friend found useful for her Moment was the Sprint store....to trade it in for a Pre.

The Moment seems like a whack piece of junk. She got one, it sucked...after 2 months of dealing w/ it she took it to the Sprint store, they completely redid the software and then updated it and sent her on her way. A week later it was still doing the same stuf, so she called Sprint, they sent her a "new" one (refurb)...new one was doing the exact same stuff. A week after getting the new one in the mail, we go to the Sprint store and they trade her in for a BRAND new Pre and throw in the touchstone for her troubles. It's been a week and she has none of the problems as before.

Good luck Craig.

Were you able to scan the phone screen to make the barcodes work?

It's only been a day but so far I am loving it. Leah has the Pre, I just don't like that phone for a couple of reasons.

I haven't tried it at a store yet but it came with a read-me file that explains how to position the phone to ensure it is read properly.

I downloaded another on this afternoon, Handcent.. It's a SMS message handler and it is far better than the one on the phone. You can modify and customize every aspect of it. I searched sms popup to find it.

The ONLY complaint I have it it's size. It's a little bigger than I would like. Definitely not a deal breaker though.

Handcent is a must have. When Android 2.1 comes out in a couple of months, it'll utilize voice dictation for text messages.

And I agree with you on the Pre. It also just feels cheap to me.

FYI, Android 2.1 should be out in a couple of weeks for the Samsung Moment.

For you Samsung Moment owners, if you didn't already know, some leaked versions of Android 2.1 have been out for a few weeks now. I've got a rooted Moment running 2.1 now and it's pretty cool. Live Wallpapers, Voice-to-Text dictation for text messaging, it's faster, can remove Sprint bloatware, etc.

I did it a few days ago using Vista.. Worked fine. I am liking the new software. Things seem to flow alot more smoothly. I have been using it alot more since upgrading too. And the voice recognition software is pretty good.

I noticed decreased battery life on the first day but assume it is only because I was messing with it for so long. Do you have Advanced Task Killer? It's the best way to close apps and helps alot with battery life. Everytime I am done using my phone I hit the ATK and close everything out.

Granted, I haven't used mine much today, about 15 minutes of browsing and a few texts since I unplugged it at 7am, but it is still fully charged.

Mine's rooted with a whole crap load of things running. I took quite a few calls today and I had to plug it in right close to 3pm. So, I'd say from 7AM to 3PM, the battery is working well.

How in the world do I get my laptop to see my phone as a drive. It always says no driver found and I have tried several of the drivers online. I did get the 2.1 update to work but still doesn't show up under my computer.

Yeah, I had no problem on mine on Vista. My boss got a Moment and I took my laptop to work and did her upgrade too.

The first instruction sheet I saw had an example where you had to manually delete a couple fo drivers if it didn't work right. Luckily I didn't have to, maybe that is your issue?
