PS3 purchase qustion

I'm possibly picking up a 60gb backwards compatible PS3 here in the near future. From the ps3 owners here, or those familiar, what are some things i should look for on the system?

How much is the PS3 you are looking at? I had a few issues with mine but I think it was a corrupted hard-drive. Once I formatted the HD and restored it everything appears to work good. I would suggest you try to play on it for a few minutes and get it good and hot to make sure it doesn't overheat and shut off. Unfortunately theres not an easy way to give it a real workout other than playing it for a while. They make all kinds of external coolers for it which is something I suggest (they get VERY hot). You can find em on Craigslist fairly regularly for under 3 bills....I've even found some for around 2 hundred.

The person i'm buying it from also repairs 360's/ps3's, and i made sure if it broke in the near future, he'd repair it.

Playng it for awhile will be a problem since he's meeting me half way, due to living out in bfe.

Check up on the PS3 forums regarding the old PS3's all getting Yellow Light of Death (YLoD) now. These forums greatly influnced me to buy a Slim PS3.

Two of my buddies went from fat ps3's to slim ones, their main issues were heat and noise.

Honestly, for this type of investment just shell out the cash for one with a warranty at a store. Less hassle if something goes wrong.
