Categories in Outlook contacts

I need to send an email to all contacts marked a certain category in contacts. There's 976, so retyping and/or copying/pasting isn't really an option. Is there a way to export to Excel or better yet just create an email with a large "To:" field?

I don't use outlook, but can't you make a distribution list from categories?

Go to File, select Export.

Export to a File (CSV - either DOS or Windows is generally preferred)

Select your contact list to export.

Tell it where you want to save (Desktop)

Open Excel.

Import data, point it at the CSV file, go through the wizard.

Voila. Delete the columns you don't want.

Find the column with catagories.

Sort all Rows/Columns off that column.

Now that they are all together, select the range that has their SMTP address. COpy.

Open Outlook, new message.

Paste in the BCC field. (If you don't want everyone having everyone elses email address). Otherwise put it in To.

Done.

I may have done it wrong, but all that did for me was create another category identical to the one I had before.
