Removing Windows 7

Anyone able to help me remove Windows 7 from a laptop? It's a downloaded copy and we put it on to see how well it'd run, it started out running alright but has really slowed down since and nothing else has been put on the laptop. So we're just going to put XP back on but I'm having trouble getting Win7 off.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

So are you booting from the XP CD and trying to format it from there? Is it giving an error or what?

I've tried booting from just the CD but it keeps going into Windows, i've actually gone in and changed what the computer should boot up from (HD to CD now) and it's still just going straight into Windows 7.

Try this if you can boot from a disc.

http://www.dban.org/download If it goes to 7 you could change the BCDedit file basically hosing the bootloader and see if that'll get it to boot from a CD.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

Thought that following this might work but now it's just booting into Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and won't get out of that.

Double check that you've set the boot order w/ the CD Rom as forst boot device. If it is and it's not booting from the disc then the disc is likely not bootable.

It should be booting, it's an ISO file.

Can you verify that it'll boot from that disc in another machine?

Well I thought it was, guess I'll have to download a different torrent.

Where are you located? I can make you a copy of OEM Home or Pro, you'll just have to come get it or I can transfer it to you w/ the FTP client in Team Viewer or FileBus.

No need when I can download it in a matter of a few minutes. Is there anyway past this Windows Memory Diagnostic Screen without having to boot up with a CD?

Yeah I've got XP back installed now I'm just trying to configure the wireless card, I'm checking on Dells website and I can't figure out which driver I need. It's the 1370 WLAN that's installed but there's several different drivers for it... any input?

Can you give me the service tag #? Or, go to here, register a free acct and take the test, then copy/paste the link in your reply. That'll help in finding the correct driver.

BTW, what did you end up doing to get 7 off?

Edit: just gooling the info you gave for the wireless adapter returned this.

I used the XP ISO I downloaded, just didn't bother to read that the creator suggested burning at 4x to ensure that it covers all data. I burned at 48x and it wasn't reading.
