USB flashdrive issue

I have a 16gb Kingston flashdrive on which I loaded all my programs, software, computer articles, etc. I was in the process of saving some drivers when it kicked back and kept telling me to please insert the device to the drive (E). I can't seem to access the contents anymore, it keeps telling me that I have to format the device. I don't want to lose at the data I have on it...

Any ideas?

I think your drive died....I had a 2GB one that did the same thing. I tried to reformat it, scan it, nothing worked. I wound up throwing it away.
