Any value to my non-working Xbox 360?

Well it stopped displaying video over hdmi this weekend. Started with a colorred pixly image, and now no longer displays anything....

Is it worth anything now?

Microsoft wants $99.99 to repair it.

I got mine fixed for $50, had red ring of death and the video stopped working completely, sound still worked though. If you're interested I'll give you the guy's number, just send me a pm.

If it displays on the other outputs, could be useful for somethings - to inlcude playing games. I'm guessing it is a GPU problem though.

At the very least you can sell the DVD drive out of it. People who have been banned from Live will swap their drive out for yours and spoof it so they can get back online again.

X CLAMP MOD

Trust me, the problem is the GPU is overheating and you need to replace the thermal compund and the x clamp mod isnt a bad idea while you are there. My old xbox did the same thing, no RROD, just mumbled up video and the x clamp mod fixed it.

Brad, if you want, I can take a look at it for ya, for a small fee.

I've got the thermal compound, etc. And I've taken a few 360s and PS3s apart here recently.

Yep thats it! What your most worried about is replacing the thermal compund between the GPU and the board because yours is overheating. It took me a while to do the x clamp mod because if you tighten the new bolts too much it flexs the motherboard and it will RROD so you gotta play with it (with the xbox open till it works then put the console all together.

mine was reflowed, new thermal paste, etc. and it fixed it for 2 days, its now gettin the x clamp mod to fix it for good. I wouldn't bother taking it apart without doin the x clamp

Microsoft wants $99.99 to repair it.
Repairs at the Arcade Factory are 45.00, it is an ACTUAL store and they are microsoft trained techs.
Not some guy in his garage who might or might not know what he is doing, repairs come with warranty also

I bet I'm more certified in Microsoft products than anyone at the Arcade Factory

Glad it worked out, told ya it wasn't all that hard.
