Finally got a 360. Some questions...

First, I got the Elite since I couldn't find a Pro anywhere and the Arcade is a waste of time. I am trying to run HDMI and optical or coax audio off of it because my receiver does not do HDMI pass through for HD video. Is there a way to use HDMI as well as a separate audio signal for the 360? All I have found is component video with coax or optical audio.

Second, will any wireless adapter work on the 360 or do I HAVE to get the $99 adapter for this damn thing?

If I run the HDMI directly to the TV and then run a coax output, it will not output 5.1 digital FROM the TV.

You can run hdmi to the tv and optical to the reciever. Just setup the video and sound on the xbox. As for wifi you need the xbox adaptor.

Well all of the HD adapters that I've seen cover the HDMI port. But I found one on monoprice that doesn't cover it. Thanks for the help guys

Pics of said coverings? I don't understand why manufacturers make things that cover over things on their consoles. It also used to piss me off (used to because it's obsolete now) that I couldn't plug my wifi adapter and my HDDVD drive into the back at the same time. Yes I know I could just plug the drive into the front of the maching, but that's ugly, and it blocks one of my charging ports. Now I'm just pissed I bought the HDDVD drive at all.

Simple fix for me was to crack the gray plastic case off the adapter that has optical audio out; and it then clears the hdmi cable!!!

I can post a pic of it, if you decide to go that route?
