No WiFi on laptop when running off of battery?

My laptop (HP) won't connect to my wireless unless it's plugged in. I cannot connect to WiFi when on battery, or if I'm on power and unplug the laptop, it won't stay connected.

WTF?

I guess it's possible that the power saving feature is turning the wifi adapter off. Run on the battery and set your power scheme to Always on<---XP or High Performance<---Vista/7 and see what happens.

If that's it, just know your battery life will be far shorter.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

If you don't find it in Power Management, check the BIOS...

Go to start->run and type in devmgmt.msc. Hit the + sign next to network adapters. Find your wireless adapter and double click it. Go to the power management tab and make sure the option that allows the computer to turn the wireless off to save power is disabled.

That worked. Thank you very much. I'm now on the interweb while on battery.
