netbook questions...

Ok, so I bought the wife a netbook for a gift. I opened it up today to get it setup with the wireless, make sure it is charged, etc.... Well it has some weird os on it called "UBUNTU 8.04 (Standard Edition)" I was looking at these for a while and I saw the same one with xp and even windows 7 on it. Well I want to change it asap. It comes with a 8gb ssd for the os to be on and a 160gb for storage. Will xp pro or preferably windows 7 ultimate fit on this drive?

Best something in Texas.... just don't know what it is yet....

They both will. You might as well get windows 7 on it. Nothing wrong with xp but 7 seems to be pretty legit....

Question

Windows 7 will fit on a 8gb SSD? You sure bout that? Hell XP Home with updates took up nearly 7 gb on my netbook. If thats true I need to go ahead and crack open that Win7 family pack I bought and start installing.

Ubuntu is linux and is often put on the cheaper priced netbooks to save money since its a free OS.

Although XP/7 can be really lightweight when desired, I think I'd prefer a linux OS on the netbooks.

This. You can (and they probably already have) make linux run just like windows, plus you can do way cooler things with Ubuntu and other Linux operating systems.
