Wireless Printer Connection

Any ideas out there as to why my printer (Brother ink jet) will not connect to my wireless router? It picks up the SSID of my router just fine but will not connect to it when I enter the WEP key. TIA

A couple of suggestions.

You could try going through the wireless setup again on the CD-ROM. You could try to temporarily disable WEP encryption on your router to see if it will connect to an open network. If it does, then try a 64 bit WEP key, if that works try the 128 bit key. Verify that you are entering the WEP key correctly.

Also, be sure the printer has adequate signal strength or it will have trouble connecting. Most wireless printers have a signal strength meter in the hardware menu.

It turned out the setup on the router needed a simple change of the wireless channel. Signal strength, etc. is all good now.

I was going to suggest this. Seems a lot of devices don't allow you to select a wireless channel to match the router, so you have to change the router to channel 1 to make the devices work, which can be a pain if you have a decent number of wireless devices that already work, you would have to go back and change every one of those to match the router setup change.
