I have a Acer AOD 250 with 1GB of Ram - DDR2 PC2 5300 - I need a 2GB single stick - was wondering if this would work from walmart ...

Wintec Ampo 2GB PC2-6400 DIY Memory Upgrade Kit for Netbooks and Notebooks

Is the 6400 part of the description mean it is faster than a 5300 and is it compatible?

Thanks for any help one can give ...

If the motherboard supports up to 6400, then yes. Go to www.crucial.com and run the scan tool to see what it'll take before you go buy anything.

Good call, I was going to mention that as well. Usually there prices aren't to bad either and you know you are getting quality RAM.

I have that same Acer, do what was already said...go to Crucial.com and run the system scanner. Write down the exact type of memory is says you can use ( I already did all of this and I think it did say you can use 6400 DDR2) then go to Pricewatch.com and look for that type of memory. It will show the cheapest place online with shipping. Mine was right at $21 for 2 - 1gb sticks.
