HTC Eris

Anyone have one yet? I was looking at this and the Motorola Droid and I'm leaning towards the Eris. The Droid looked cool and all but once I had a chance to play with it I really wasn't too impressed.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

That's what I've read about it, but I think the main reason people are having those problems is because they run things like myspace, facebook, twitter, email, and other apps all the time. I think I'm going to pick one up tomorrow.

Any app heavy phone will require charging halfway through the day if you use the apps all the time. The iPhone is the same way. Use it for a couple hours straight and any phone will lose its charge really quickly.

True but some phones require charging more often then others.

its all how you cycle your battery.... gotta give it the right treatment at first and it will get better, but still, large displays and touch screens are too much fun to play with constantly so any battery is gonna drain fairly quickly with heavy usage

Well, that's true, but some have extended batteries. I sure do hate sounding like a palm nut hugger, but the pre has several cheap extended batteries which only increase thickness by a few millimeters, and triple the battery life. I usually can run 5-6 apps simultaneously with over 20 hours battery life. Really when it comes to smart phones what really eats their battery is cell traffic. My iphone's battery lasted about ~6 hours will heavy use, my ipod touch (same piece of hardware minus the cell traffic) lasts days since it essentially uses no power at all when at idle. Hell, it will sit on my desk for a week and still have 100% battery.
