Converting CD's to ISO's

I'm backing up all of my CD media (games, programs, etc) and am storing them on a 4TB external hard drive array as ISO's.

In converting the discs, I'm finding that performance varies pretty wildly on speed vs stability. If its fast, it'll create a readable ISO 50% of the time. If it's 100% readable it takes hours to complete. Not to mention lack adjustability on parameters. (ie Nero - garbage)

What software should I be looking to accomplish this? Recommendations?

2nd imgburn, FUCK nero - installs a TON of shit you'll never need, clogs the shit out of your registry and in the end imgburn will work twice as fast.

It's just a tiny simple little program that always works and it's very powerful.

I've had good luck using Alcohol 120%. It's free to try for a period of time and I've never had a problem with it creating ISOs from copy protected discs. Of course, burning the protected ISOs back to disc is another issue altogether.

No need to reburn the iso's to CD with the exception of OS's and even then I use a usb drive.

Inside the OS i use Virtual clone drive and it mounts it as a CD drive. Saves the environment

ImgBurn or Alcohol 120% have both worked great for me.

I have and use Nero but prefer ImgBurn for doing ISO's. Quick and easy to use plus it's free.

I normally use DVDFAB for the whole thing, but my friend was looking for a free alternative. We've been trying dvdfab (free version) to rip, dvdshrink to compress and imgburn to burn. It works, but is cumbersome.
