yes it's in the stores and yes you can do an upgrade install w/ out formatting.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

Still would have to recommend a backup be done, which should be a default action, prior to attempting the upgrade. Ya never know.

Windows 7 CD's come with both the 32 bit and the 64 bit version in the same box.

As long as your currently on 64 bit then you can upgrade without a clean install. You cannot do it going from 32 to 64 bit though, you will have to format.

Back your data up - put it aside.

Wipe PC, copy data back to PC.

Take drive with data, put it in a safe place.

Take it back out once a month and back your data up again. Rinse , repeat.

When you upgrade doesn't just put your old records in a .oldwindows folder or something like that. I thought an upgrade did a clean sweep anyways?

I upgraded yesterday and had a lot of problems opening certain applications.

I did a fresh install tonight and everything's working great!

That's what happened when I installed mine. Although this was a fresh computer anyway that had xppro on it.

Although it's taking me a little bit to get used to windows 7 from xp, but I already love it....

I don't think I have ever installed an operating system so fast and easy.
