That's what Gamefly is for. 40 bucks a month for 4 games. Saves me an assload of dough. Plus, I never lose money when a game sucks, I just send it back.

I'm in the same boat, so I'm just going to buy COD: MW2 because it looks like th eone I'll be most interested in, plus the multiplayer replay ability is amazing on COD games.

I don't know if i can agree with that.
$40 a month x 12 months = $480

An average of $60 a game would get you 8 games a year.

How much time do you spend playing games?
Do you beat every game you get through gamefly?
you would need to rent and beat 6.6 games a month to justify the $40 dollars.

A lot of games take 6 - 10 hours to beat. Some RPG's take considerably more.
So, you'd have to spend more than between 40-60 hours a month playing 6 or more different games to make the $40 a month a value.

Actually, Games at my BB are 8 dollars to rent for 5 days. 8 games a year is shit. If I go buy one game for 60 bucks and don't like it, I take it to gamestop and lose 30 bucks for trade in. This solves that problem right there.

Your math is flawed. Try adding up how much it would cost to rent 4 games for a whole month.

Games are $8 for 5 days. 30 days in a month. Renting one game for the entire month would cost 48 bucks not counting taxes. That times 4 is $192.

You have to do the math based on 4 games for 30 days. They may not always be the same 4 games, but it still equals 4 for 30.

Also, I have a lot of free time due to my work. I work a 3 day 12 hour schedule. The point was for the OP who had 3 games listed, which, if purchased would cost close to 200 bucks.

Your math is still very flawed as well.
At the end of your subscription, you have no product to sell to recoop any spent money. Instead, you're simply left with a console and no games.

I'd rather lose %50 of money spent, than %100.

LOL. You won't get 50% back on any games. Especially after 30 days. I have saved a ton of money and time doing this. I always have the new games in the box the day they release, and if they suck, I have another in two days. Works for me, and that's really all I care about. If I like a game, after a month, they drop the price to keep it to about 25 bucks, and I get 10% off that price plus $5 credit every 3 months. My math is not flawed by any means. It works the same as netflix. If it was a ripoff, it wouldn't be killing the game stores.

but what youre not understanding is that at the end of the day... you send them back and are left with nothing. no product. youve spent money to borrow someone elses game, but you have to return them.

so you spend 40 bucks a month and return the games, youre out 40 bucks, and in reality you gain nothing.

What you don't understand is that for 480 dollars a year, I can play any and every single game that comes out for as long as I choose. All I am out is 40 bucks a month. Whereas if I bought every game I played, I would only play 8. And that's it. Because the argument won't allow for renting games. You play 8 games per year and that's it. And by the end of that year, that game won't be worth 10 bucks, so what you consider "value" is just something taking space up on a shelf. To each his own, but for me, it saves a lot of money. I can deal with not owning something worth 5 bucks just to say I own it.

It's fucking video games, not real estate or stocks. No one gains anything from playing video games except some good hand-eye coordination. I'm out 40 whole dollars, oh noes. I'm no DFWstangs baller, but if 40 bucks a month starts hurtin the wallet, I'm getting another job.

About 9. Like I was saying, your math would have been right for yourself and a few others, but for me, I save money.
