OK computer geeks...I need to replace mine

OK I'm a car car guy not a computer guy. I think I am at the end of my rope with my 8yr old Sony VAIO. Its hard drive is only16g and its been full for a while now. I keep deleteing stuff but I've taken out as much as I can take out now.

Soooo where do I go from here? Whats my best bang for the buck? I want another desk top. Basicly use it for surfing net, pictures, videos, music ect. I don't play games if that matters.

Thanks in advance for any direction

Since it's been a while for you getting a computer, you'd be surprised at how affordable they are now. Just hit up best buy. I build mine, but if I didn't know how, I'd hit them up. They have good prices with great selection. Can't go wrong with what you choose.

Come see me at Fry's, we still have plenty of desktops left and since they are all going clearance for Win7 I got some good prices in them. Also, almost all of them qualify for the free Win7 upgrade.

Building is by far the way to go. Have top of the line for almost the cost what most people pay for a decent set up now days. Atleast get a 64 bit system if you buy a set up somewhere.

Don made me remove my sig

Which Fry's do you work at? I need a new desktop and am debating on building one or just buying one.

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

Just so you know, that's about 5-8 y/o technology. I have a Dell her that I got back in '03 or so with those specs.

For a 100 or 200 more you coud've gotten something that'll last you longer.

Your a cool dude from what I remember, but I never understand why people post up here and ignore all advice given.

Edit: My comment was uncalled for, I just think you could've done better bang for buck wise.

My '03 Sold.

Not so much ignoiring the advice as much as not haveing any more money to spend right now. I got myself off credit cards almost 2 years ago and refuse to go back in debt. It would have taken me about another 2 months to have the extra $$ for anything more. This is new one is 10 times what I had so I think I will still be much better off.

You'd be surprised at some of the deals you can find on the net.

If you're happy with the performance of the computer, but just need more storage why not add another hard drive? You could even just get a stand alone USB drive.
