USB recording Mic

Any of you guys know of a decent USB mic for recording music to your computer?
I have no knowledge as far as music equipment.

My wife wants to record a few songs with her guitar.

I also plan on getting a USB cable for her guitar.

Also....any good free software for editing music?
Any tips?

Here's what I've been using. USB snowball mic made by "Blue." Got mine brand new for $100 from Guitar Center. It's easy. You just plug it in to the USB port and you're good to go.

For recording I use Sonar Home Studio 7. I think I paid around $100 for the basic program, but there are expansion packs you can buy. Sonar 8 is already out though, so I'm a little behind the times. It works though. If you're using a Mac I hear that "Logic" is the way to go. It's a bit pricey, but awesome. I think most Macs come with a program called "Garage Band" though, that allows you to record and edit music.

Here's some stuff that I've recorded using what I have.

There's some electric, some acoustic, and "adsf" is a song that's basically done minus vocals. I put a lot of time in to that.
