Palm Pre Privacy = FAIL

http://kitenet.net/~joey/blog/entry/Palm_Pre_privacy/

nothing like sending your location to Palm daily without a way to opt-out.

jailbroken iPhone FTW!

you can disable this in your phone's options. Palm even has a pop up to confirm whether or not you want locational data to be sent.

Is that to Palm, or for E911?

"The location privacy settings allow you to turn off the GPS, which someone reports does prevent location being logged and sent. It also allows you to turn off reporting of location information to Google.

But nowhere is there a setting to disable sending these logs to Palm. The existance of these other privacy settings thus makes the Pre's behavior even more unexpected and jarring."

I believe it's suppose to cover any of the everything plan's, from the 450 to the 1000. So, if you own a Pre, you have this already, essentially.

It's the traffic from their new plan today, tv commercials, web flyers... their phone system was slammed, same with their website.

I got on fine, it's funny...today is the actual day my latest contract is up. I might just move to this new plan when the Instinct HD comes out later this month/next month. I might actually be using text for the first time evarrr.
