What's a good private torrent tracker for DVD's?

Hi all. I would like to ask if any of you know about a good private torrent tracker, that does DVD movies. I am already a member of one for music, but they do not do DVD movies there. So anyone know one, that I could join up with? Thanks - Justin

Ok ok. You're right. That's why I didn't name mine. Let me reword it. What if there was some place like that? Where might a person look to find it? Even though it doesn't really exist, I mean.

Thanks. But do are yall aware of any that require membership? The free ones are prone to malware, is the reason I try to stick to the exclusive ones.

Alright. I have joined a nice private torrent tracker site for movies. So. Got a few more questions.

What format should I download in? The website only has a few formats that they accept there, for uploading. They have 1080p, 720p, HD-DVD etc. It all seems like a bunch of high end shit. Problem is I have no blue ray burner. Yet. Got the player, just no burner. What exactly is the popluar format for downloading a plane old DVD? One that is going to play in any old DVD player?

You have to be invited by an existing member, who has achieved the "power user" rank. As a noob to the site, I have not, I'm afraid.

So you just burn the ISO straight to a DVD disc and it works fine? Cause you know how when you download an app, you burn in ISO format and it just works. Same thing with DVD's? Sorry I'm a bit of a noob, never even burned a DVD before, or even downloaded a movie. Also, tried to register there at theDVDclub.org, but it looks like you have to have an invite code. Are you allowed to invite people yet 8mpg?

correct..you just burn an ISO and you are good to go. You need to know if you dvd player is region free or not. Some movies are PAL and some are NTSC. We use NTSC in America. PAL is used in foreign countries. Most dvd players these days will play both, but older ones will not. Any computer should play either. Also, when you download, pay attention to file size. There are DVD5 and DVD9 rips. Most dvds these days are over the 4.2gb size and need to be burned on dual layer dvds. So there are 2 options when ripping. Rip it down to 4.2gb by getting rid of the extras and possibly compressing a bit, or leave it as a DVD9 and its 8gb. You will need a dual layer dvd if you get the DVD9 copy.

Maybe you guys can see what I am doing wrong here. I downloaded the movie, wallace and grommet, just as a trial to see if I could figure out how to make a playable disc. So I download it, then I convert it. That's called encoding, right? Well then the same program that converted it for me, will not let me select it, so that I can then tell it to start burning it to a disc. Am I missing something here? Sorry i am a giant noob at all this. Nor will it let me burn the original file. You can see how the "OK" button is greyed out. Thats after I select the proper movie. How frustrating all this is. Did it take you guys a long time to learn how to download a movie and make a playable disc?

What files do you have? take a screen shot of the folder. There shouldnt be any encoding or converting. You simply open your burning program and choose dvd video or ISO and burn it.

Well, let's start from where you can best explain, if you don't mind. What burning program do you use, 8mpg? I would like to get it so I can learn the easiest way to do things. All the people over at those high end sites seem to think that you need to do all this encoding stuff.

Use Nero to burn. There is no encoding when it comes to DVD's UNLESS you have a dvd9 and you are trying to fit it on a single layer dvd...then you use something like DVDshrink.

Ok I will get nero. Is that the one where you have to pay, or you have the option to pay? Not sure I remember... the one I downloaded says it's a trial. Of course I will be er, borrowing it, if I can.

Here is what nero said, after I downloaded some movies from thedvdclub.org. As you can see, for some reason it is saying that it does not recognize the file type, or something to that effect. Perhaps someone could tell me the exact steps to burning a downloaded file with nero? Might be hard to tell by the pic but I have the repack dvdr valkyrie movie selected, and I get the error message you see there.

Or, perhaps the second pic has something to do with the problem?

Ok...if you have a single file, either a .iso or .img file, then you dont burn a video dvd. You want to burn an image. Get out of Nero Express and get into regular nero burning rom. Then click cancel in the dvd selection screen. Click recorder at the top of the screen and click burn ISO. THen choose your iso file. If you have an .img file, just right click it and rename it from .img to .iso as the extension. Then burn it

If you have a Video_TS folder and not a .iso or .img...then open nero and click DVD-video. Then you will have two folders on the left side in Nero. Click and drag the files from your Video_TS folder on your hard drive to INSIDE the video_TS folder on Nero. Then burn it.

Sounds like this is what I am trying to do. However, I was able to burn am .img file easily with ImgBurn. And I can see how an .ISO would be just as easy.

But... I have downloaded several movies that are like you say, they are not a single file that you can just easily burn. It's like a folder with a crapload of files in it, that are all the same exact size. Is this what you are talking about? Need to establish that before I can move on. Sorry about all the noob questions, and thanks I really do appreciate all the help. Here is some more pics, although I am not sure I am using the same nero you are talking about. I have nero 9, or smartstart or something like that. Does yours look like this?

Those are RAR files (.rar, .r01, .r02, etc)... you need a program like WinRAR to extract them. Download the program and install it. Then the files will be a known extension. When they are, right click on one of them and click "Extract here". Then you will get a folder of files to burn a video dvd or you will get an ISO/IMG file. They split huge 4gb files into 100 to make sure they get downloaded properly and not get corrupted as a single file.

And yes, that video screen you did a screenshot of should work.

ok... here we go. Open NERO BURNING ROM...not smart start, not express...nero burning rom.

Then click dvd video on the left.

Find your Video_TS and Audio_TS files on your hard drive (there may not be an Audio_TS folder and if there is, its probably empty) Its on the right side. Then select both folders and drag it to the left side where it says new

Then double check your work. Click on the Video_TS folder on the left side. All the files should be in this file on the dvd. It should automatically show the contents of the folder.

Then click burn....this will make it a bootable dvd for a dvd player.

Much appreciated. I am downloading the Nero burning ROM right now, and will attempt the walkthrough you posted as soon as it's done.

However, your last couple of posts raised a few more questions for me.

1. Does doing it with nero burning ROM negate the need to do the whole "extract" thing with WinRar? I have no problem with doing it, I was just wondering really.

2. In the post before the walkthrough you said to right click on one of the files and extract it to some folder, right? And then that would go into the selected folder, and it would become a .img or .iso file, right? So if I only do it to one of the files, wouldn't it only extract and convert that one single file? And thus, I would need to do it to all of them? Cause there is a whole crapload of them, all the same size. Not sure if they reassemble after you just extract one of them, or what. In other words, you couldn't just extract one of the files in the long list, and burn that to a disc and have it be all you need, could you?

3.If you do need to extract each file, i'm sure you could just highlight them all and then hit extract. But would it somehow know to piece them all together properly when it dumped the ISO, or IMG file into the selected folder? Kinda weird. Perhaps that is the fuction of WinRar? To know how to do this perfectly?

4. There also seems to be a whole other set of files, below all the files that are extactable by WinRar. Here is a pic of them. Any Idea what they are? Windows says something like "Nothing recognizes this file format" or something like that.

No, Nero doesnt negate the winrar part. Your movie is split into 90+ pieces and winrar will put it back into 1 folder or 1 file.... Even though the computer doesnt show to recognize past .r30, it does, dont worry. Just right click one and extract. When you extract one file, it extracts the WHOLE movie file, not that single small one.

Cool I got it working now. I am not able to make all the files appear in nero burning ROM like you are, but I am able to use nero burning rom to just simply burn the image after I have extracted it. Thanks a ton.

Thanks for the invite to dvdclub and all, 8mpg, but dang they are short on some major titles. I could not find Silent Hill, nor Alien Resurrection.

Back to the whole "you can't till you reach upper status" thing. Sorry. I'll send you one if I ever reach it, but it will likely take at least a year. I have a sorry dsl connection and you are competing with everyone that has a fast connection, to share data with people who download a particular torrent.

Yeah. However they do offer one format there, that everyone seems to love for some reason I can't understand. It's called FLAC. And it's bigger than any blue ray. I downloaded metallica's "Reload" album, and it was 86 gigs. Supposed to be for audiophiles that think they can hear beyond the range of what's humanly possible. Absolutely no compression, whatsoever from the original recording. So you have all this sound, that gets cut out by VBR (v0 and v2 of MP3) that no one could ever hear, but by joe they want it. I find it to be kinda stupid.
