Parental Control Software

Anyone know of a good parental control software? I really only need two main things, the ability to block certain sites (by url) and the ability to limit hours of use (ie set a curfew). Right now we are just pulling the monitor cord every night but it is a pita.

TIA for any recommendations, free or cheap is best!

Spector Pro is fairly decent. It's more of a monitoring program, but it handles the blocking portion and is fairly resilient to disabling attempts. It's also virtually invisible unless you know how to read process handlers.

If you have Vista there should be some parental controls built in, not sure how good they are though.

whichever you chose be sure to google "how to bypass XXXXX" - they can all pretty much be bypassed fairly easy (they are not corporate level stuff) and it's best to know how. Since they usually leave behind tell tale signs that'll let you know it is happen.

But damn man, let the boy spank his monkey in peace.

Haha.. Our kids aren't L33t haxors yet, so I am not as concerned with them bypassing the blocked sites for now. The biggest concern is limiting the hours. Sites I want to block are the social networking sites, until they are a little older at least.

If you are running Vista it has some built in features to accomplish what you are trying to accomplish(I believe). I could write a script to have the host file for xxx.com point to 127.0.0.1 at xxam xxpm.. Is it internet access at all after xxam? or certain websites?
