wifi range extender?

I need to get better range in my house. what is the correct product I am looking for? i looked at a negear range extender but it plugs into my existing wireless router which is a brand new G router...I don't think it would be much help. what i want is something I plug in in the middle of the house and it repeats the signal. can someone point me in the right direction?

How big of a house? I had a 2 story 3K sqft house, and all I needed to improve my range was a better antenna. I got a Hawking Technology antenna for less than $20 and BAM..no more problem. In fact after the antenna, you could get my signal 3 houses down and across the street.

the house is just under 5k sqft but the office isn't all that far away. I get a signal but its VERY low, and sometimes drops completely. I'm just over the distance I guess so I don't need much more but def need something. does the antannae plug into the current router? I may give it a shot

Why not extend the network to the office (I assume it is in the same building) using a powerline network adapter? Prices range from ~$80-$150

Yes, just unscrew the existing antenna and screw in the new one(s). As for the powerline networking adapter, you can do that also. But the AC outlets have to be on the same breaker I am pretty sure.

Just sold it on ebay...the damn thing worked in every room of the house but my office. called netgear and habib couldnt even understand what I was saying. I actually shipped it out yesterday. I figured I'd sell the powerline for a range extender...

the one i have now is an internal antennae so I don't think there is a place to screw one in. I'll take a look but think I may be in trouble with that.

Not on the same breaker but they do need to be on the same side of the power meter. Powerline ethernet works pretty well as long as you don't need super fast speeds.

No fast cars though
