3rd Gen iPhone or Palm Pre?

What are the pros and cons of each.. I'm leaning more towards the iPhone.. What are your comments from those who have both?

i had my hands on the Pre the other day. Its oddly shaped. Its like a little egg that slides open for the keyboard. Its pretty cool, but the mere fact that the iphone is now in its 3rd generation makes it my choice for apps and stability.

yeah I didnt like how small the screen was with the pre.. not only that my brother was messing with one and it kept dialing someones number and we couldn't for the life of us get it to hang up. Also Sprints "app store" is still in beta mode. I like how the programs close on the pre with the slide. I'm just really familiar with the iPhone, maybe would take time to get used to the Pre.

Btw I am with sprint now and contract is up, thats why Im looking. I HATE my Palm Treo right now it freezes all the time.

I can't replace my physical keyboard. I fat finger on my iTouch and I just screw it up all the time. My sister has the Pre and actually having real keys to type on is a big difference.

But Pre is 1st gen, there are def some quirks and QC issues...but it will get better.

Or just wait for the Toshiba TG01...it was just approved for CDMA flavor by the FCC meaning its coming to the US for either VZ or Sprint...and its pimp.

i'd go with the pre out of your choices, I have friends with both. The iphone is basically good for games and not much else IMO, wait.... its really good at dropping calls too.

Anyone make an app that makes the iphones keyboard compact qwerty keyboard with t9? Like my Touch Pro, and a few Blackberrys?

I haven't tried out a palm pre yet but I doubt I would like it better than my iphone.

Last summer the wife wouldn't let me get the iphone because of the cost of the phone every month. In the end we went with the lg dare through verizon when our contract with nextel was up. I really wanted the iphone and eventually terminated my contract in February. You'll regret not getting the iphone if you want it now. I don't have experience with the pre but looked into the blackberry storm before getting the iphone, in the end the iphone won. Even the wife that hated the idea of getting an iphone, now has one of her own.

I find that day in day out there are interesting apps that can help make life a little easier on the iphone. Make sure if you go the iphone route you get the 3gs, it's worth it. I had the regular 3g but when the wife decided she wanted one too I gave her mine and bought the 3gs. The camera is of a better quality and I find that the software/phone runs smoother for whatever reason. There are a few things I hate but most were corrected with the 3.0 software.

IMO iphone hands down. If your leaning towards the iphone now and you get something else, inside you'll always want the iphone (it happened to me.)

Sprints signal quality is horrible. My old roommate had to walk outside about 30ft from our apartment just to make a call when he had sprint. I'd have about 3 bars inside the apt with at&t. Well, cingular back then.

I have the palm pre, and I'm very satisfied with it. This poll is completely useless though, the palm pre has been out for not even a month while the iphone has been out for over a year.

Here's some facts, sprint has a 4G network, from all reviews I've read on the palm pre, it is documented to be faster at browsing. I've had an iphone through work, and my pre is noticeably faster. It has a physical keyboard, it can truly multi-task. It's based on WebOS which is linux - it has homebrew applications - you can download tons of apps from precentral.net for instance, which are completely free - many of which you have to pay for on the iphone - and the SDK has only been out for a week and a few days?

There has been a lot of speculation as to the future of the pre, it has a phenomenal potential to surpass to iphone in many respects, mostly to due with palm's loss grip on copyrights and 3rd party software functionality.
