ps3 controller cable same as garmin cable?

i need to update my garmin gps but i don't have the computer cable for it.

a friend of mine told me the usb to mini usb cable for the ps3 controller is the same and will work. anyone know if this is true? i don't wanna plug it in and then the garmin unit fries because it was too much power or something like that

thanks

the ps3 controller is just a usb to mini usb cable. it will be fine. there is no way that there is enough power going through any usb cable to fry a gps unit.

I use mine for all sorts of other electronics and have not had an issue. I wouldnt think there would be more or less power coming out of it since the PS3 is essentially a computer.
