Awesome. After a move my PC desktop wont give video output

So i moved from s. fort worth to grapevine and after i moved and got my PC setup that my monitor will not recieve any signal from my 9800Gx2 video card.

1) tried a different monitor with the same effect of the monitor going into standby mode
2) used different cables for the 2nd monitor test
3) reseated the graphics card in the mobo
4) noticed the 1st monitor kept on going back and forth between digital and analog mode trying to find a signal

Next up for tomorrow is just digging inside the PC and trying to see if there is anything loose or broken. Ugh.

Any other tips? This is extremely frustrating to deal with after a move.

Have you tried simply pulling the card out and resetting it back in? Maybe it jarred itself loose during the move?

yes i reseated the card. I also inspected the PCI-E male-connector for any damage and didnt spot any but i will look again and also at the female port on the mobo.

Tonight i might be able to try another graphics card to see if its the card or if its something else.

Look down inside the connector for black dust or soot...also smell it for that unmistakable smell of "burned electronics"

I think there arel Molex to 6 pin PCI-E Male connectors, I would try to see if hooking a different power source up to the card would alleviate it. Power supplies are not that great of devices, most have a lifespan of 2 - 5 years.

well no luck so far.

dove into the pc and found a SATA power cord for a hard drive unconnected, but still no dice. another symptom i discovered was the activity light on the case is pretty much solidly on when it goes to power-on and remains so until shut off.

I hear no sounds from either the BIOS mini speaker or the audio speakers, or any indication the computer is progressing to windows start up.

sounds like more than just one connector is unplugged. Try reseating everything from the power supply to the motherboard.

Plug in to the onboard video yet?

To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Got it working. Partly two problems. There was an 8-pin molex connector power cord loose on the motherboard, which got it booting, and also the monitor got plugged into the secondary video output of the graphics card and not the primary.

Of course, still waiting on verizon to come out to install my internet/tv/phone...
