netbook and IP issues

Got the netbook for my kids, now I am having problems with it connecting to my Linksys router. I don't have security enabled on the router, but I do have a list of MAC addresses that are allowed to use my router. So I go in and add the MAC address from the Acer and MY laptop pops up a message saying that my system sees an IP conflict with another computer using the same IP address. So my laptop looses connectivity and the netbook gains it. Now what?

what operating system do you have on the netbook?

it might be as simple as restarting the computer after you setup the mac address security (or release ip, flush dns, renew ip)

if that doesn't work make sure you have automatically obtain IP setup.

one thing to check with the linksys mac address security, if you have IP address reservation setup, make sure you don't have conflicting IPs.

that's all i can think of right now.

Have you tried disabling MAC filtering and just connecting WEP? This shouldn't be a requirement to work, but I'm just curious what happens. My acer works just fine via MAC filtering.

Momo's most basic instruction is what fixed it. REBOOT!!

By the way Grant, I went with your $298 Wally World Aspire One in Ruby Red. If it doesn't work I am sending my 7 and 8 year old's to your house!

Is it the AOD-250? If so, good buy. I found one for $279 online...they are very nice for the price, I really like them

That's fine, they can use my 8 year old daughters PC, she spends too much time on it anyways.

Man I looked at almost every site that sold Acer...where did you find it for less?

You don't happen to have a line on a good 10" airfoam type sleve for it do you? I need one that will also hold the power adapter.
