Possible to track an IP address?

I just recently found out that someone used my debit card info to purchase some internet bullshit online. I called the company to see how bogus this was and they told me whoever used my card was able to produce the right info for the card to get used. So I had them stop what they were doing... shut off my card.. and asked for the info they had.

They were able to give me the IP address and email of this person. so... Can you track these?

PM sent..

I just don't understand how this person got my info. I've never lost or had my card stolen. This company tells me they were able to give my info as well to verify the card. WTF!??

Exclamation

I'd file an identity theft report and run your credit through the big three.

depends on the ISP. The IP could be anywhere in the world. File a police report with the IP and date and time of the transaction.

I guarantee someone swiped your debit card through a handheld swiper when you paid for something (like fast food) I had it happen to me about a year ago and within about 36 hours they had used my "card" at 3 retail locations and 2 gas stations all over NTX, even though my card was in my wallet. They cloned it.

Wamu covered it all and had me a new card in 4 days and all my money returned within 15 days.

I don't eat fast food at all... so it couldn't be that. Also, I live in Ohio and what traces I do have are half if not all the way across the US from me.

What I dont get is how they were able to provide my home address as well and more than likely the 3 digits on the back of the card. The only thing I think it could be is maybe someone who took my info before when I purchased something kept it to use it.

yawn, leet hackers. Yall doing this is like watching a dog chase his tail. If the dog got a lawyer and had a good case against his tail - that's about the only time the dog could get his ISP to let him get a good chomp on his tail.

Give it up, fuckers are long gone. YOU won't be able to do shit about it. Probable a court case and all that shit could. However, I assure you that if it is a VISA/MC/AMEX card, you reported it and they are doing shit like this consistently that they are working on it. Additionally the merchant card processors also fight these issues in conjunction with the card companies and the Secret Service. (DoT)

Take care,

My '03 Sold.
