Well it's official: I killed my Acer

Approx. 2 months ago I was showing off my aspire one to a buddy and nonchalantly dropped it from about waist high, while it was running. It kept running and showed no signs of failure until 2 weeks ago when I went to access some pics that I had on it only half of the pics actually loaded the other pics only partially showed. I figured they might be corrupted. On two occasions since, the PC has locked up. Today it finally dumped out and will not load past the BIOS screen. It is also giving me an error that some of the boot files are missing or corrupted.

I'm going to contact Acer to see about a new drive, and in the meantime I may go up to wally world and grab another since I use it for work.

Go to Costco, spend $349 for the new 10.2" version of it and get the extra warranty.

Don't really want the 10"(already have a case, etc for this one), the 8.9" is at Wally world for $298.

Also, I'm in Abilene and we aren't advanced enough to have Costco.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

I bought another Acer today since I need it for work(got the 160GB - and it came with a little USB mouse). Most of the files on the damaged drive are factory stock -any work related things I keep on a flash drive. I keep all my personal files on a different PC with a backup.

Will definitely look into the recovery for s+g's. Will most likely replace the drive and either flip it or we may have a use for it in the shop.
