Issue w/ext HD...

Trying to backup files to my ext hdd and it keeps giving me this error. When I backed it up awhile back, no errors popped up saying anything. It's half full, but when I open up folders, there's nothing in there. Hope this thing didn't crap out. Fairly new. I rebooted PC and still gives error. It won't even let me format it.

So, whenever I've gotten that in the past it was either a bad drive or a the enclosure was going tits up. Good lick man.

Make sure the connection to the PC is good. That can happen because the cable is bad and is periodically preventing a write acknowledgement.

WTF.....After I did that cachset program, it was able to let me format. It let me backup my files to ext HD, no errors at all. So I turned off and unplugged ext when it was done. I come back to it last night to try it again. Guess what, I can open drive up and it shows all my folders, but when you try to open up any folder, it's empty. Every one of them shows empty even though it's about 50% full. Then all of a sudden that same msg pops up. So I go try to do other "fix" that website says about making another entry in registry, it won't let me write to it. It's weird that I can hook it up to my laptop which has Vista and it works fine.
