Kind of a spin off of another thread, but...

Can I swap out the 160gb seagate hd in my seagate external hard drive, for another large hd I have(500gb) without to much trouble? Would it still recognize it as an external hard drive?

Provided you can can open it w/ out breaking it, it should work. I would try opening it to open it to verify the interface first.

yes it will work, as long as the two drives are both SATA. All that's in an enclosure is a sata connector to either a converter, or an E-sata plug.
