Good Deal? Or not worth it?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218056225739

Friend of mine looking to buy a laptop. Said she found one for like $900 and came with all this stuff i knew she'd never use. But I found this one and was wondering if it was a good or bad deal? She's only looking to watch movies, listen to music, get on the net and that is really it. No gaming. Maybe burn cds but thats it. I think it seems pretty good but i wanted to get a 2nd opinion?

Don't talk about it! Be about it!

That's not a bad deal, but if I could find it else where I would. Worst Buy will run you through the ringer should you have any issues that need to be addressed using the warranty.

Think you need to format/reinstall your OS(XP), read this first.

I was gonna check Frys but when I go in there i always have to stop like 20 people before i get any kind of help. If warranty is the worst I'd have to deal with at best buy it doesn't seem all that bad? What do you think of the computer spec wise?

That's a great price for the hardware.

The latter will be slightly more expensive as it's newer, better tech. As for price difference, I'd say no more than 30 bucks based on interweb price searching.

Care to elaborate on what "run you through the ringer" means?

Performance will be massively noticeable. You'll pay more, but it's well worth it. Pentium Dual-Core ftl.

I purchased a desktop in '06, w/ in 11 months the mobo ate itself but freak squad did everything they could avoid honoring the PSP. Told me it was OC'ed which cannot be done.... After 6wks and finally tracking down the NTX manager while on vacation I got it repaired. Then @ 16 months the monitor quit but they remembered me this time and knew I meant business.

The store manager's as well as freak squad all basically told me yough you shouldn't have done xyz.

If I'm not mistaken, you work or worked for them so you should know that you CAN NOT OC a Hateway piece of junk. The bios won't allow and the mulitplier... is locked on the OEM chips.

Needless to say, that is the last geedus I'll spend w/ them.

This is what i wanted to know. She said she's looking to spend between 500-600 for a decent laptop. I've searched but haven't found anything too too special everything seems to be like 700-800 range.

That sounds really odd, because I've never run into anyone that cared that much about their job back there. That's pretty fucked up, but I just don't see that happening in most stores.
