wireless access point using two routers?

I "think" I am understanding this right but need to verify. I just got a new netgear wireless N router. I still dont' get much of a signal in my office so wanted to try to use my old G negear router in my office to receive the signal and use that. Is this whats called an access point? I have looked up how tos but most of them show the routers being connected....

any advice?

So, what were you wanting to do with the 802.11G router?

The only time a wireless devices does not need to be physically cabled to your network is when it is in "repeater" mode. Most routers won't do that.

A G radio won't talk N to an N radio so at best you'd get G speeds.

At the end of the day I think you're trying to extend the range of the N router's signal and it just won't work with that G router..
-It is a G radio not a N radio
-Likely does not have a repeater function

If you search, there are plenty of wireless repeaters out there if that's what you really want to do. When *I* would recommend though is finding something that improves your signal output from your radio itself.
