whats so bad about linux?

just wondering- i dont have any experience with it, i was just messing around with a laptop with linux on it at best buy and it didnt seem to bad... almost like windows just set up a little different??

Nothing is wrong with it. I think some people prefer Windows, some Linux. It is like Ford vs Chevy.

You can download Ubuntu for free. Put it on a spare computer and see if you like it:

i assume "ubantu to linux" is similar to "vista to windows" ? just a different linux OS?

Pretty much. Linux is a broad name that graces the titles of many different OS distributions that are of the same structure.

the main reason im asking is because im looking at a small netbook for my living room in case my girlfriend needs to do some work from home- can linux access her computer at her work the same as windows can??

anyone have a hookup on a CHEAP netbook????

just needs to be very basic with wifi, all its going to be used for is email.

I bought my Acer Aspire One for $330 from WalMart 2-3 months ago

120GB HDD/WinXP/1GB Ram

So far it works like a champ. A lot better than carrying around my XPS. The only thing with the Acer is the trackpad buttons aren't very user friendly, but I bought a MS Arc mouse to carry with it.

Its only $300 now:

My friend has a MSI Wind and she loves it, of course she quad-booted it with XP/Vista/OSX/Linux. She got hers from Target online.
